Rapid KL FAQ
What is Rapid KL?
Rapid KL is the brand name for urban rail and bus services operated by Prasarana Malaysia Berhad in Kuala Lumpur and the Klang Valley. The rail network comprises six lines: LRT Kelana Jaya, LRT Ampang, LRT Sri Petaling, MRT Kajang, MRT Putrajaya, and KL Monorail — covering over 220 km and 160+ stations.
How much is a Rapid KL train fare?
Rapid KL fares are zone-based, starting at RM 1.10 for short journeys and up to RM 6.40 for the longest cross-network trips. Using a Touch 'n Go card or MyRapid card deducts the exact fare. Token (single-trip) tickets are also available at station machines.
How do I use Rapid KL trains?
Tap your Touch 'n Go card or MyRapid card at the entry fare gate. Board the correct line. Tap out at your destination — the fare is automatically deducted based on distance. For token tickets, insert at the exit gate to pass through. Keep your card topped up; minimum balance warnings are shown on gates.
What are Rapid KL operating hours?
Most Rapid KL lines operate from approximately 6:00 AM to 11:30 PM daily, including weekends and public holidays. The last trains on some branches may run earlier. Check the Rapid KL app or prasarana.com.my for the latest timetable.
Is there a monthly pass for Rapid KL?
Yes. The MyRapid Monthly Pass allows unlimited travel on all Rapid KL rail and bus services for RM 100/month (adult). Concession passes are available for students, seniors, and OKU (disabled) at reduced rates. Passes are topped up at station machines or the MyRapid app.
Does Rapid KL go to KLIA airport?
No — Rapid KL trains do not go to KL International Airport (KLIA). For the airport, take the KLIA Ekspres or KLIA Transit (operated by ERL) from KL Sentral. The journey takes 28–33 minutes. At KL Sentral, you can connect from any Rapid KL line.
