Train Routes Worldwide
1000 routes across 76 countries — find journey times, distances, and live timetables for every major rail corridor.
About the TrainsTracking route database
The TrainsTracking route database covers over 340 major rail corridors across 150+ countries, with detailed information on journey time, distance, available train services, frequency, and fare classes for each route. Routes are verified against official operator timetables and updated whenever operators publish schedule changes — typically at the start of each annual timetable period (usually in December) and following any interim timetable amendments.
Each route page includes the scheduled departure and arrival times for all services operating on that corridor, the train types (high-speed, intercity, regional, sleeper), the operators serving the route, approximate fares for each travel class, and — for Tier 1 networks — live delay status updated every 30 seconds. For routes served by multiple operators (such as London to Paris via Eurostar, or Lahore to Karachi served by multiple Pakistan Railways express services), all services are listed side by side for easy comparison.
Route distances and journey times are sourced from official operator published data. Where operators do not publish official distances, we calculate them using geographic coordinates of the intermediate station stops. Journey times are the scheduled time including all scheduled stops; actual journey times may vary due to delays or unscheduled stops.
How to use the route finder
To find a specific route, browse by country below and click through to the full route list for that network. You can also search directly from the homepage or the journey planner by entering your origin and destination — the system will match your input against all stations in our database and show you the relevant route page.
Each country's route page shows all routes operated in that country, organised by origin city. For large networks like German DB, UK National Rail, or Indian Railways, there may be hundreds of individual route pages covering every city pair. The most popular routes — by traffic and search volume — appear first. Use the search function on each country's route page to filter by city name.
Route information on TrainsTracking is for planning purposes. To book a ticket, click the "Book" link on any route or schedule page — this takes you directly to the official operator booking platform (Trainline or National Rail for the UK, SNCF Connect for France, DB Navigator for Germany, IRCTC for India, booking.pakrail.gov.pk for Pakistan Railways) where you can complete your purchase at the published fare with no markup.

Understanding journey times
Journey times listed are scheduled times from the official timetable, including all intermediate stops. High-speed trains (ICE, TGV, Shinkansen, AVE) cover long distances much faster than conventional intercity or regional services. For example, Paris to Lyon is 2 hours by TGV but over 4 hours by regional train. Check the train type on each listing to understand the speed and comfort level of each service.
Scenic routes worth knowing
Some rail routes are genuinely spectacular. Switzerland's Glacier Express between Zermatt and St Moritz crosses 291 bridges and 91 tunnels through the Alps. Norway's Bergen Railway between Oslo and Bergen climbs to 1,237 metres above sea level. Scotland's West Highland Line from Glasgow to Mallaig passes the Glenfinnan Viaduct made famous by Harry Potter. India's Darjeeling Himalayan Railway, a UNESCO World Heritage site, climbs through tea gardens to Darjeeling. These journeys are as much about the experience as the destination.
Night train routes in Europe
Europe's sleeper train network has expanded significantly since 2020. The ÖBB Nightjet now connects Vienna, Innsbruck, and Salzburg with Amsterdam, Brussels, Paris, Hamburg, Berlin, Prague, Warsaw, Rome, Venice, and Zurich — all with seat, couchette, and sleeping car options. The European Sleeper runs Brussels and Amsterdam to Prague via Berlin. Snälltåget operates seasonal sleeper trains from Sweden to Germany and Austria. Overnight trains save a night's hotel cost and let you travel while you sleep.
