Belgium Live Train Tracking
Belgium's national railway is operated by NMBS (Nationale Maatschappij der Belgische Spoorwegen) in Flemish, SNCB (Societe Nationale des Chemins de fer Belges) in French, and NMBS/SNCB in bilingual Brussels. The network covers 3,592 kilometres and includes two high-speed lines: the HSL 1 connecting Brussels to the French border at Lille (used by Eurostar and Thalys/TGV) and the HSL 2 from Leuven to Liege. The network also includes the HSL 3 to the Netherlands and HSL 4 to Germany. Belgium's compact geography means almost any city-to-city journey by train takes under two hours. This page tracks NMBS/SNCB trains using timetable interpolation.
The Brussels hub at Brussels South (Bruxelles-Midi/Brussel-Zuid) is Belgium's international rail gateway, serving Eurostar trains to London, Thalys/TGV trains to Paris, Cologne, and Amsterdam, and domestic intercity trains. Brussels Central is the main commuter rail hub within the city. Belgium's domestic InterCity trains connect Antwerp, Ghent, Bruges, Liege, Namur, and Luxembourg City at regular hourly intervals throughout the day.
Thalys (now rebranded as Eurostar International on services to Paris) connects Brussels South to Paris Gare du Nord in 1 hour 22 minutes via the HSL 1 at 300 km/h. The service to Amsterdam Centraal takes 1 hour 49 minutes. Direct ICE trains to Frankfurt and Cologne are operated by Deutsche Bahn using ICE 3M trains capable of 300 km/h on the Belgian HSL 3 to Liege and German HSL to Frankfurt. Booking is at b-europe.com for all international NMBS/SNCB connections.
NMBS/SNCB operates an affordable domestic ticketing structure. The Railpass provides 10 journeys at a discounted rate. Season tickets are available weekly, monthly, and annually for commuters. Bicycles are carried free on regional trains outside peak hours but require a bicycle permit on Intercity trains. Brussels Airport is on a dedicated spur line connected to Brussels North, Central, and South stations by NMBS/SNCB airport trains (Airport City Express) running every 15 minutes throughout the day.
