About Alex
Alex Rahman is TrainsTracking's data lead and a lifelong rail enthusiast who has taken high-speed trains on four continents — including Deutsche Bahn ICE, Japan's Shinkansen, China's CRH, Amtrak's California Zephyr, and the Trans-Siberian Railway. He designed TrainsTracking's data pipeline, connecting live GTFS-RT feeds from 19 official railway APIs. Alex brings an engineer's rigour to rail journalism: he verifies fares, journey times, and booking instructions against live operator sources before publishing. He writes with a focus on data-driven decision making — helping readers understand when a rail pass genuinely beats point-to-point tickets, and when it does not. His guides on Germany's Deutsche Bahn and Japan's Shinkansen are built on repeated personal travel experience.
